This shelterhouse is located in the beautiful Dickson Timber recreation area. The shelter is open year-round, but is not heated during the winter. The Dickson Timber trail system lies just outside the shelter, as does an RV campground and an equestrian campground.

Pit toilets are available a short walk from the shelter. There is a small playground as well. Well water is available outside the shelterhouse. Electrical outlets are spaced throughout the shelterhouse.

Picnic tables are provided, seating up to 60 people. There is a stone fireplace inside the shelter, but firewood is not provided (bring your own - firewood cutting is not permitted in the park).

The Dickson Shelter can be reserved for $40, and can be used for free on a first-come, first served basis (unless someone has reserved it). Non-profit organizations receive a discount rental rate. A $50 refundable clean-up deposit is required. Shelters are rented for all day. You can begin setting up at 5am, and must vacate the premises by 10pm.

Please call the conservation office at (712) 792-4614 for additional information. Feel free to stop by Dickson Timber to see the shelterhouse in person.
